OSU Physics Department Colloquium, Fall 2020
Title: More Than the Sum of its Parts | A Superposition of Teaching and Physics Education Research
Abstract: OSU teaches college physics to more students than any other institution in the state. This creates an opportunity to have a significant impact on our society. It also creates a great responsibility to find ways to improve and adapt. Over the past 10 years I have stood at the nexus of teaching, developing curriculum, and researching modern learners. I will share what I've learned about bringing education to the masses and developing methods to assess instructional practices. Come hear about flipped classrooms, learning assistants, open educational resources, Ecampus, and quantitative physics education research.
