Learning Assistants
Benjamin Lee | Senior | Kinesiology
I am a senior studying kinesiology and pre-medicine with hopes to go into either sports medicine, pediatrics, or family medicine. Coming from Portland I naturally enjoy adventure in the forms of hikes, food carts, or just running in our crystal clear air. My favorite past times include singing, playing guitar, being a boba connoisseur, cooking, and spending time with others. A fun fact is that I spent my entire summer as a volunteer intern in a large scale hospital in Mombasa, Kenya where I also got the opportunity to do crazy things like hold baby crocodiles!
Shanti Coleman | 3rd Year | Biology/Pre-Veterinary Medicine
Hi! My name is Shanti and I am a 3rd year student studying Biology with an option in pre-veterinary medicine. I plan on putting some letters behind my name and working with exotic animals like reptiles or large birds! I love hiking or even just spending time outside. I also really enjoy spending time with my friends and going on long roadtrips. Something I am really proud to share is that I just recently completed a summer internship at the Smithsonian National Zoo studying at the Reptile Discovery Center and I am about to adopt my first snake!
Cora White | Junior | Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
My name is Cora and I’m a Junior majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and plan on attending medical school after I graduate. I took the Physics 20X series at OSU last year and while the course was challenging, it was also extremely rewarding and I’m looking forward to engaging with the course material from a different perspective. Outside of classes and being a Learning Assistant, I work in Dr. Jane Ishmael’s laboratory in the Pharmacy department and try to spend as much time outside as I possibly can.
Sean Goodman | |
Hello everyone! My name is Sean, and I will be one of your LA’s throughout your physics journey this year. I grew up in both Oregon and Hawaii, and love spending time exercising and exploring the outdoors! Physics was one of the most challenging, but also rewarding classes that I have taken at OSU. It has changed the way that I see the world around me and has also taught me new ways to apply knowledge to solve difficult problems. I hope that I can help you reach your goals this year!
Nik O'Hara | 4th Year | Biohealth Sciences
My name is Nik, I’m a 4th year in Biohealth sciences (option: Pre-Pharmacy) with a double minor in history and chemistry, and next year I will be attending the Oregon State Pharm.D program. I’m fascinated with the potentials of mycology in respect to bioremediation and I hope to involve fungi in my post secondary school adventures. I love me a good dad joke although I can’t remember too many and I spent this last summer on a fishing boat in Alaska
Sonya Bedge | Senior | BioResource Research
Hello! My name is Sonya and I’m a senior majoring in BioResource Research with an option in Toxicology. I’m from the Portland area and I love traveling, spending time with friends, and sitting in the sun. I’ve always loved math and science and, even though it can be challenging, I have developed an appreciation for physics. I love how after learning a new physics topic, it shapes the way you see the world around you. I’m excited to be working with you all this year!
Taylor Baker | | Biology
Hi, my name is Taylor and I'm originally from Colorado! I came to OSU to study Biology and have since added on minors in Psychology and Chemistry. I feel like I'm always moving--either teaching BodyPump or Zumba at Dixon, or practicing as a competitive ballroom dancer. You can also catch me studying for the MCAT, reading tarot cards, or nerding out about whatever obscure topic has recently grabbed my attention.
Supplemental Instructors
Calista Clements | | Nutrition
Hello everyone! My name is Cali, I am from Portland and moved here to Corvallis to study nutrition. My hope is to attend medical school after a gap year, and eventually study integrative medicine. I have been a hairstylist for the past 15 years, but at some point I began yearning to help people on a deeper level. I still do hair in Portland on the weekends, and in my free time I volunteer at Heartland Humane Society. I also go to the coast every chance I get, I am easily distracted by trees, and I hope to meet a sloth someday.
I am excited to be an SI Leader because I would not have survived physics last year without it! Don’t be afraid to reach out, this is tough material.
David Lehrburger | Senior | Biology
I am a senior studying biology with a minor in Spanish and a pre-medicine option. This is my second year as a physics Supplemental Instruction Leader, and I am even more excited now than a year ago. In my free time outside of school, I love to backpack, rock climb, play soccer, and travel. I got my first real taste abroad last winter when I traveled in South America with my brother for three months. We went through Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru, getting to experience some of the most amazing places on Earth, and meeting more wonderful people than I could have ever imagined. That experience has helped me to develop a new ambition in life, to practice medicine with Doctors Without Borders, all around the world.
William Freeman | | Chemical Engineering
What’s up! I’m an SI leader for the PH20x series this year. I’m studying Chemical Engineering here at OSU, with a minor in Mathematics. I grew up in the small town of Canby Oregon, which is just south of Portland. Some of my favorite hobbies include camping, snowboarding, hiking, and riding my beloved motorcycle. I am also a member of the Men’s Rugby team here at OSU! I’m excited to work with all of you, and I hope to see you at SI tables!
