Physics 20x | How do I succeed |
Success in physics, as with anything you wish to get better at, requires practice. Lots and lots of practice. We've developed this curriculum by talking with students about what they do to succeed in this course. Years of development have narrowed in on a system with the Five Stages of Learning presented earlier in the Class Structure page. Most of your practice happens during pre and post lecture homework, along with the challenge homework. To review these pieces, read through the Homework page of the syllabus below.
The plurality of your grade is determined by your midterms and final exam scores as that is the only place we can assess you personally on your knowledge of the subject, problem solving, and communication skills. While the Final Exam may be a high stakes event, it doesn't have to be stressful. The best way to ensure you are prepared is to follow the path laid out in the calendar and to create a steady routine. To learn more about the exams, read through the Exams page on the syllabus, linked below.
The last piece to success is to understand the grade breakdown of each part of the class. A recruiter once shared with our students a story about why they valued people with bachelors degrees. Finishing the degree shows that those students know how to budget their time and understand the value of each piece of a project. Knowing how many points come from the various activities is part of that skill. Read through the Grades page on the syllabus linked below.
After reading through the above pages, you are almost done familiarizing yourself with the course. The next step is to find out about all the support we have for you. Click on the Where Can I Get Help page linked on the arrow below.
